Designer basics
Start from a template, preview your board, and understand saving versus publishing.
On this page
Choose a starting point
Open Design for the selected location and explore Templates. Choose a template that suits your menu and TV orientation, then create a design from it. Start with your real menu so you can judge spacing and readability.
Templates, editing controls, and parts of the designer are still being refined. This guide describes the basic workflow; exact control positions and available options may change.
Work with your content
Use the available Add controls to place menu sections, text, images, and supported widgets. Select an element to open Properties and adjust its content or placement. Properties starts closed and can be collapsed. Click blank canvas space or press Escape to deselect. Layers helps you select and organize objects.
Keep prices easy to find, leave space between menu items, and check the board at the distance your customers will read it. A full-screen preview is helpful, but the actual TV is the final check.
Arrange your layout
Open Layout and choose the page you want to arrange. Give the header, body, and footer their own columns and relative widths. Set rows independently in each body column, adjust header and footer heights, and switch sections on or off. The body receives the remaining height. The optional sidebar spans the full height beside the header, body, and footer, with its own width and rows. The orientation buttons above the canvas apply to every page in the design.
Changing the column count redistributes existing column content in reading order. Free-positioned objects keep their placement. Switching a section off hides its content until you switch it back on. Set equal pixel gutters around the outside edge and adjust spacing between sections, columns, and rows. Turn on Grid under the canvas to see the divisions. Layout changes save automatically; preview the result before publishing.
Be careful with shared themes
The editing panels and Layout sections start closed. Open Theme, then expand the section you need, including Colors, Background & panels, or Logo.
A location’s theme is shared by its designs. Changing that theme or applying a template’s suggested look can affect other designs at the same location. Review the existing boards before publishing a shared appearance change.
Save and preview
Object content and position changes currently save automatically. Theme edits have their own Save and Revert controls. Watch the editor’s save state before leaving.
Preview every page and orientation you plan to use. Use the bottom timeline to play, pause, stop, or scrub across duration-sized thumbnail clips. Choose the slide animation in Pages. Scroll or pinch over the canvas to zoom; use Fit canvas to reset. Drag page handles to reorder, or use their Left/Right keyboard controls. Each thumbnail has a delete button; a design must keep at least one page. Undo and redo cover the last 50 layout, page, object, and theme draft edits in this design during your editing session. Theme edits still need Save. Switching designs or reloading clears the history.
Publish when it is ready
- Return to Screens and select the design for the intended TV.
- Publish the screen.
- Wait for the connected player to receive the update and check the TV.
What this guide does not promise yet
Advanced editing, grouping, media support, and workflow details will be documented as they settle. The current Add panel does not offer video playback, and individual floating layers are not multi-object groups. Do not plan a live event around an unfinished capability.
We will update this guide as the designer develops. The review date above shows when this version was checked against the application.
